If I want to copy my buddy list to another machine, what file do I look for? And can you just copy it to the new machine?

AIM stores your buddy on AOL servers unless you're using some really ancient version. So just go on the other computer and sign on.

on another note... I'm so excited that the new version of gaim gets your buddy list for you... no more having to save untitled.blt over, and over, and over again 😉
