AOL Instant Messenger taking up 40mb of memory!

In Windows XP, I looked in tast manager and noticed that AIM was taking 40mb of my memory! What a horrible app. It's been running for only 1 day 5 hours. I'm this close to burning that program and replacing it with a carrier piegion.

I noticed that I was using a lot of extra RAM last night. I found out that for some reason, that stupid Gator thing (I don't even know what I installed that that worthless piece of software came with) was running, taking up 40 MB of RAM. And the .dll that caused it to start back up again if I killed the process was taking 30 MB. Needless to say, once I figured out what was causing all that memory to be used, it took about 30 seconds to get 70+ MB of RAM back.

So... quit complaining. Everybody here already knows how everybody else hates AIM and how it sucks nuts and how AOL is the devil, etc.

Trillian is only taking 11mb of memory for me, and it is running ICQ, AIM & MSN all at once.

ur on crack.. using about 5 mb here..

been on for almost 2 days. (well the machine and AIM in the tray) the connection has been shut off peridotically.. but its been on for almost 2 days.)

ICQ has always owned AIM.. offline messages, complete searchable message database, etc.

even MSN is better than AIM.
