My kid just installed a "free trial" demo for AOL 6.0, and now its taken over my IE browesr (gawd what insedious software), anyone know how to get rid of it. If I go into add/remove programs, its has an AOL 6.0 trial, but when I attempt to remove, it says there are no installed versions. I ran regedit and removed all "America Online" keys and still no dice....suggestions???

Thanks in Advance

Do a search for "*aol*" (without the quotation marks) on your computer. If no folders like "AOL 6.0" show up, then AOL is almost certainly gone from your system. AOL has a reputation of changing a bunch of settings in IE and it does not change them back when it is uninstalled, so you will probably have to go through your "Internet Options" control panel and manually put everything back to normal.

Get rid of it! AOL does take over your computer, as it's basically a legal virus. :Q

If the reason your Kid installed it was to take advantage of the chat capabilities, you can down load stand alone AIM, as a chat client. :)
