AOL for Broadband

I've been an AOL hater for a long time. Their services are so crappy. You can say a million bad things about their services, fees, and all those rediculous SPAMs. But, I have checked out AOL for broadband that a friend uses. I was thoroughly impressed. It features a whole new layout, look and feel. The design seems very well implemented and thought out. The little floating control bar is also a great resource. The streaming media is easier to access with the cleanest, high resolution feeds I have ever seen. Alot of the media like news and weather and entertainment channels have feeds just for AOL BB users (remember its AOL/Time Warner/Viacom). Another thing is I see much less intrusive pop up ads.

AOL actually looks pretty decent now but it's still not good enough to make me want to pay their inflated costs and deal with their unsecure crap email system. I think its a pretty nice for your average user who likes all that stuff in one consolodated place with easy to use menues. If you use AOL and have a fast internet connection, I recommend you give it a shot.

I can't believe I'm praising A-O-Hell...

don't think so what?

anywhoo, anyone know of something like this that I can setup for people that incorporates alot of these features? I know some people on broadband that dont use AOL that need something like this. Any starter pages or non-invasive applications/browsers that have such a rich mix of easy to use features? Hell will freeze over before I recommend someone to switch their ISP to AOL but I gotta admit that the AOL for broadband is a great resource for the non web saavy. So what do you recommend?

I'm surprised they're not filing Bankruptcy yet. From what I read not too many poeple are signing up with them like they use to any more. Some just use their free minutes and cancel when it's over. I used it once and didn't really care for it. I hate floating menu over lapping each other and pop up that they use to have.
With all the price they're charging forget it. I'm a broadband use and I will never go with AOL ever again. Please don't get offended AOL is for someone who just bought a PC and don't know a thing about internet or PC.
Here's an example. A friend of mine try to send me an Email and he keeps telling me that it didn't go through and he didn't know why.Come to find out later that he didn't put in my domain just my user name. Within AOL all you need is just User name and he just assume that it's all the same when you send an email out to other than AOL.

It sucks.

AOL/Time Warner is the largest media company in the world. If they go bankrupt everybody and their mother will hear about it. But, they did post the largest profit loss ever in recorded history this past january -$100 BILLION
What this company brushes off as a loss in one year would cripple most countries. :p
