AOL Desktop - Imap Server

Hey guys, I just downloaded the newest version of AOL, AOL 10.1 aka AOL Desktop.

It works fine except for my emails. When I sign into AOL desktop, it won't show my emails. When I log in, it gives me the message "failed to connect to imap server."

I tried googling it, but I couldn't really find any answers to my problem. If any of you can help, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you.

I don't have a firewall.

try playing around with the email settings. When i updated the aol software on my grandma pc from aol 9.0 to aol desktop. I had to change some of the email settings in aol desktop to get it to work correctly. If i recall right, had to either enable or disable the TLS setting.

Ok, I went into mail settings and it says:

Incoming Mail
Security: TLS

Outgoing Mail
Security: TLS

I turned both to "None" instead of "TLS" and now my mail shows up. But what does TLS mean? Is it bad that I have it turned off? The other options are "TLS, if available," "TLS," and "SSL" for both Incoming and Outgoing

TLS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transport_Layer_Security) is a type of security protocol. It's a method of encrypting the messages that go back and forth between your computer and AOL's mail servers. It's generally a good thing to have enabled, but it's not required by any means.

I would select SSL for both options and see if that works.
