AOL 9.0 causing popups ???

Asking for a relative who's on dial-up only and they're complaining of popups when dialed in... not even opening up IE... just sitting there after connecting successfully (as a test). Does this sound right ? I'm having them scan for spyware... cause I can't believe AOL would actually cause popups on its own... does it ? Thoughts (besides telling them to switch ISPs) ?

Might try adaware, I thought AOL came with a built in pop up stopper? Might be a built in feature of AOL.

Probably spyware, I can't imagine even AOL sinking that low. Should probably have them update & run both adaware & spybot, then have 'em use firefox and switch to peoplepc, it's dialup for about half the price.

had him install/run adaware but don't know what happened since then... at least now I know AOL doesn't popup crap on its own according to you guys...
