AOL 5.0 v. 6.0: Which is better for my customer?

I need to install AOL for a customer. I have CD's for versions 5.0 and 6.0. Is there any advantage to one over the other? As an aside, the CD labeled v6.0 says it is installing v4.0. What's up with that?

6.0 will work with Win2k (They may not "support it," but...), but either way 6.0 adds that EVIL virtual private networking (their nice replacement for normal TCP/IP). 5 has no fewer features (unless you count different smiley faces in chats), and is easier to get rid of if the person ever evolves to real 'net access.

Thanks, Cerb. I can't believe I'm even installing AOL. But then, "The customer is always right..."

Only thing worse than giving your customer AOL would be if you could find an old compuserve disk and give it to them. heh heh:Q

AOL is good for beginners, after a while it becomes a big pain in theyouknowwhat when you realize there are better things out there..

That's exactly the situation here, Pocatello. The guy and his family are very new to PC's. They were given a 486 that they use for e-mail and word processing. They're satisfied with AOL and, like I said above, "the customer is always right."

Heh heh, like I suggested earlier, Compuserve.
It is the only software that will even install on a 486.:Q

go w/ 5.0. it works. no point in getting the new software that might have bugs w/ some apps.

i have @home and aol. (dont flame i have had it for years my parents pay for it.. getting rid of it this month though 🙁) and i know that 6.0 wont work with @home.

6.0 has the smiles (works as good as im now) and that is about it.

Does annyone know if you can save your aol email address after you leave? i know you can keep your handle on im... but i have had the same email for soooo long. as my main email for friends that is.
