Hello.

Less than 3 months ago I bought an AOC 9K+ monitor for about 200 US$.
All I could find on the web/usenet was 1-2 positive posts, and not much
else, but I thought it would be ok. I was dead wrong.

If anyone's pondering on doing the same, don't. At least not until you
have read my detailed review (yeah, I was/am really upset) at: ...

I'd like to know what other 9K+/9Klr owners think. Maybe it's just that
AOC have sent their bad batches over here? ;)

It's already the 4th monitor in these last 3 months (all the replacements took place during less than one month, BTW). Besides having to fight with the service company for another replacement, I really can't know the next one's not going to be even worse.

So... I don't know. Maybe yell at the store to give me a monitor from another manufacturer with similar specs, or a refund... but that's gonna be a problem, as usual.

BTW, did you read that page I put at geocities? Have you ever had anything remotely close to that with any CRT? What monitors are/were you using?

Staples used to sell 17 " Envision CRT monitors as a "special" price for under $100
Reviews here on AT for the Envisions were mixed......

got one from staples 2 years ago when they still had the $50 off $200 coupons. total came out to be around $27 after tax. graphics is sharp and it's running strong. i gave it to my brother when i got a dell 19-inch CRT for free. hell the envision looks sharper than the dell since this is so old...

Haven't heard of Envision. Looking at their site, their monitors don't look like the AOC ones. Even if they are the manufacturer, they may have different designs or standards for the Envision brand.

Any comments about the problems this 9K+ has? Anything sounds familiar from other monitors?

I'm hoping I could get the store to replace this AOC 9K+ with a MAG PF996. Any thoughts on that? Haven't found much info on the MAG either, but the MAGs I've seen didn't seem to be plagued with problems like this AOC. And I think it couldn't be worse... though, I've been wrong about that in the recent past. :)
