Anywhere to check CPU temps in Windows XP?

I read a post in a thread on another forum where a user mentioned that you can use the System Monitor in Windows XP to check your CPU temps. His exact instructions were something to the effect of 'go to start/administrative tools/performance, right click the graph and add the counter for processor temperature'. Well, I'm not seeing a counter for processor temperature anywhere. Am I overlooking it, or was this guy smoking crack?

I know there's plenty of little apps that can do this, but I'd like to be able to check this on systems without installing anything extra. Also, what prompted all this was that I was looking into checking the temps on a Dell server without rebooting into the BIOS or some DOS-based app.

In any case, if anyone knows how to check the temps without a third party app, let me know. Otherwise, if there's a 3rd party app anyone would recommend for checking temps without all the extra crap (skins, etc), I'm open to suggestions.
 
I think hes smoking crack, its possibel he installed something that gave him 3rd party counters in performance monitor, but i've never seen them in there for temp.
 
Mother board monitor 5 is a small easy to use free proggie that will report cpu/sys temps in your sys tray (whatever it's called at the bottom of your screen)
 
MBM is "out of production, no updates". Speedfan 4.15 is still being supported, is still free, and can control fan speeds on some boards. It'll report cpu temps, and practically any other sensor on the board.

I cannot figure out how to show both the CPU and case temps on the tskbar with Speedfan. MBM does that easily. That is why I am not using Speedfan.
