Anyway to test if a cpu is alive outside of a motherboard?

I have an athlon 1200 that I think is dead because I couldnt get it to work, and eventually just didnt buckle the hs on correctly. It looks like there is little pieces missing around the side of the core. However I have an athlon xp 2100. That looks in perfect condition, but I just dont know if it is working and I wana sell it. I dont have any working socket a mobos. Would anyone be willing to test it, I'll pay for shipping?

No point in trying to salvage it, especially considering how cheap and outdated the chip is now. It is most likely fried, or if by little "peices" missing you mean what I think you mean, those parts are kind of important 😀 . If your other CPU works fine in the mobo, then your processor is almost guaranteed to be the culprit.
