I go to cnn.com/msnbc.com etc daily and am really TIRED of all the flash and animated cr@p they show on every page -

I can't uninstall b/c it's a work PC.]

For what it's worth, even though I don't have admin privilege at my work PC (XP), it's still allow me to install Firefox and then I just import IE network settings on first startup and it got online just find.

Now, if you can get Firefox on there, you can use Flasblock add-on. It works great.

I have install priveleges, but helpdesk threw a fit that I even had google toolbar installed. I wonder how bad they'd freak if I installed FF.

In the right-pane, create a new REG_DWORD value named Compatibility Flags

Set the data for Compatibility Flags to 400 (hexadecimal)

To undo the change, merge the REG file which you've created. Or, simply delete the {D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000} sub-key under ActiveX Compatibility key.

Additional Information: There are third-party utils like Spyware Blaster, SpyBot S&D, TurnFlash which can automate the same. TurnFlash v2.10 (User Interface Version): nirsoft...tflash2.html
