Anyway to stop ESPN.com from auto-playing those annoying ads?

I don't mind ads, i know they need to generate some revenue. I do however hate when they have audio and starting playing on their own 🙁

I agree. If there was a real alternative I would go to a different site. But there isn't, so that's why they still have them 🙁

I have the same problem with nfl.com. Nothing like waking up to a commercial or interview or game recap in the middle of the night.

I can't stand it.

are you talking about pop ups?
i dont go to espn very much. I just wanted to see if i could fix your problem. where do you see the ads exactly, on main page, or when you play or access something. and what kind of ads are they?

nah, its a video that plays right on the main page, near the top right corner.

Sure, there are alternatives to that site. I prefer cbssportsline.com during college basketball season because imho their coverage is much better.

Just slide the volume thing all the way down. It will stay like that the next time you load the page up, so while the videos will still play, you at least don't hear them

Ah another reminder of how the internet has turned into a huge fvcking billboard. The early days of the 'net were nice. Click on a video and it played. No 30 seconds of BS advertising just to watch a 1 minute clip.

What ads?

Hmmm....

Ahhh, THOSE ads. I had them blocked. Opera > ALL

Opera - Open webpage - Right click page - Select "Block Content" - Click annoying ad(s) - Click "Done" - Enjoy Internet

You can adblock them, I'm not sure what filter I have that's doing it, but they don't play for me.

I think it's the one for ESPN Motion. I have that flash object blocked.
