anyway to restore a broken partition

My computer went nuts.. files started to disappear.. rebooted and it wont boot up saying there might have been a virus. Anyways its a 160GB Harddrive... and i don't want to lose all my files on my 2nd partition.

I usually just format the first partition but win2k isnt letting... im assuming cause its a 160GB Harddrive... anyway around it.

I tried using knoppix to just put my important files on another network but linux doesnt reconize file system. Maybe cause its *NTFS /me strugs.

suggestions?
