Anyway to randomize mp3's on a DVD?

For a friend's party tonight I am going to burn a bunch of songs onto a DVD so he can play it in his dvd player and throughout his house with his surround system.

However, the problem is that I will have to burn this as a data DVD with nero, and there is no way to re-order the songs, so they will be ordered by filename.

Is there any program that will assign random filenames to the files? Or, will I have to go through all the songs and put random numbers infront of them?

Thanks for any help!

You mean Nero won't let you drag and drop files or slide them up/down on the burn list?

If not, then you have to assign numbers. Pain!

There *should* be a shuffle option on the dvd player, but giving you the benefit of the doubt, I think the best way would be to burn the songs into a subdirectory (dvd drive:\mp3).
Then have winamp (or whatever mp3 player you use) created a shuffled playlist (m3u) file in the root directory. The only downside I see to this is when the playlist runs out, it will start to play all the tracks in sequential order in the mp3 directory. Hope I was able to help in time for the par-tay.

I've never heard of a dvd player w/ music support that doesn't have shuffle. But I guess it could happen. DayLaPaul has the right idea, but is making it too hard. Just make a playlist in winamp or whatever and randomize it. Save the random playlist and then drag the .m3u into nero. It'll burn all the songs on the dvd in the order of the playlist.

Ok, well I found a program that takes off 'x' number of letters off of the title.

So I did that and got a random playlist because it took enough letters off the beginning to take away part of all of the artists's names and leaving a random letter or number first.
