Anyway to make moving files from SSD to HDD "Move" rather than "Copy" as default?

I built a new computer for my dad with a 500GB SSD and a 4TB HDD. However he has the old habit of using his desktop as an organizer and making folders on there that link tot he HDD. So everytime he's moving files it's copying rather than moving. I've told him about right click drag and getting the context menu up, but now he's doing that for everything. I just want to make it easier for him and maybe find a way to change the default from "Copy" to "Move" so that his organizing of his files aren't so complicated.

I doubt there's a way to change that behaviour, however if you drag and drop with the right mouse button, you'll get the option of copy/move/make shortcut.

Or you could just press Ctrl/Shift while dragging and dropping. Does the same thing.

I think I came across an option to change this at one point, but I'm not able to find it now.

Edit: A quick google search revealed this tool, as well as the option to do this through editing a registry key. I have no idea wether either of those are trustworthy, but they're there, at least.

Select files /folders, right click, Cut, then Paste is a lot easier.

Drag & Drop is just so awkward to operate for many people.

I agree. With my grandfather's gnarled fingers, he can't drag and drop to save his life. So I just have him use copy / paste.

Been using PCs since IBM came out with the first. I have never been comfortable with Drag & Drop. Always highlight, copy and paste for me. Cntrl-a works great for marking all files and Cntrl-c and Cntrl-v also work for copy and paste. (reality is that drag and drop did not show up until Windows or maybe Apple OS).
