My current cell phone is with T-mobile, its under my moms name because i was 17 at the time we got it. Now im 18 and our contract is up, i want to get a new phone, t-mobile refuses to give me a good deal on a new phone, so im wondering if it would be possible to keep my phone number, if i cancel my moms contract, and move my # over to my contract. Does anyone know?

Call back tomorrow, and get a different rep. I'm sure they can work with you.

EDIT: If you were trying to do this at a retail location, call them on the phone. The TSRs may be a bit more flexible.

i called 3 times in the past month. they say they give people on higher plans and longer terms better prices on phones. I was with them for only a year, at the 29$ a month plan. even though I had a few 100$ bills :\ they still wont give me a break. I know back a few months ago they gave everyone great prices on upgrades to pricematch amazon. if they wont give me something nice im going with a sprint or verizon employee plan (Radio shack employee)

The answer is 'no'. I tried the same thing and no go. In addition, numbers from cancelled from previous T-mobile accounts are held for 6 months befor they are re-released back out into theTMO world to be assigned to somebody else. It's not a matter of calling another CSR in this case, it seems to be company policy. I ended up just going through the handset upgrade department that TMO has and got an S105 for a fair price.

Check out howardforums.com for more info on this. It's bee discussed pretty thoroughly over there.

They won't do it
I cancelled my T-mobile service recently.
I wanted to change phones and just extend my contract.. but they wouldn't do that either.
If you want ot put it under your name .. you'll need to change the phone number as well.
They give the person that cancelled their contract I believe 60 days to come back. ( that's what the retention department told me ).
They tried to offer me different phones telling me they'll give me a great deal, while they were quoting prices off their website ( what a deal )

I currently picked up a phone from buy.com ATT GSM service.. I'm hoping it's better than their TDMA service they had in the tri-state area.
