Anyway to keep my iPod Shuffle from "syncing" all the time when I connect it to my computer?

When I connect my Shuffle to my computer it checks to see if the songs on the iPod are still on the comptuer within iTunes. I tested this by loading a few songs, and then deleting them from within iTunes but leaving them on my hard drive. I then connected my iPod. It did its sync and then deleted the songs that I deleted within iTunes.

I did upon installing the iPod tell it to not handle the music for me. This did not fix the problem.

Is this inevitable or is this something I can fix or change? I can't seem to find it within settings either. It's a PITA.

Might work:

Do a restore of your Shuffle. After it mounts for the first time, it will pop up a dialog asking you to name it. Right below where you enter the name should be a checkbox for "Automatically choose songs for my iPod." Turning this off should stop the Shuffle from autofilling/autosyncing when you connect it.

To do a full sync from here on out, just click on your Shuffle in the Devices list, click the Contents tab, then click the Autofill button at the bottom.

I don't knpw if it works the same way, but with my iPhone, I have iTunes set to only sync to specified Playlists, not the entire library. Try creating a playlist and sync to that. You can drag and drop whatever you want in it from your main library.
