Anyway to install only the files needed to play RO from UT2004?

basically, i dont want it taking up 6GB on my hard drive when i only have a WD Raptor 36. I hate UT2004 almost as much as i hate UT2003. But RO is a shining light in the tunnel. Is it possible to install UT2004 and delete certain folders becau se i never play any type of UT2004, i only playRO 3.0 and soon 3.1. What registry entries would i need also if i wanted to make a DVD edition out of these CDs and any links on how to do it? But the original question is what i want most, to be able to delete all the UT2004 maps and crap and leave only the core files needed to play RO.

thanks

You could delete the Map files, but Red Orchestra might use some of the Resources in the other files, so deleting them might be a problem. You could, if you want to spend hours doing so, open the RO Maps in UEd then checkout which UT2k4 Packages RO gets resources from then only keep those files, but that'll take a lot of time.

Another thing you could try, that also might take a lot of time to do, is to delete all the other Resources(Textures, Sounds, StaticMeshes, Music, etc) then open up each RO Map one at a time. If a Resource is missing, you'll get an error message with the missing Packages name. Just copy that Package off the CD/DVD into the proper directory and try running the Map again.

The ultimate solution is to just get a 200gb(or so) Hard Drive and quit being so space stingy! 😉

do you have an alternate means of storage? SAN? File Server? Somewhere you can just keep the files? What you could do is install UT2k4, copy the folder into secondary storage and create an NTFS junction to the new location. It'll slow you down on loading, but should leave your hard drive relatively free.

I think you can also setup alternate Directories in one of the ini files, but I don't know which one.
