Anyway to give a dos based program LESS cpu time???

My sister likes to play a dos based game (Supaplex) and it ends up letting RC5 have only 10% of the CPU time (Priority level 8). Is there anyway to either (1) force supaplex to use less CPU time or (2) force RC5 to take more. Ideas anyone???

Under the Performance options in the Dnet config, you can give the client a higher priority. Setting it to 4 should give it a little more CPU, and if that's not enough, then you can move it up a bit at a time until it gets to the level you want. Don't go up to high right away, though, because if it gets to a priority higher than your normal programs, you may have trouble getting them to respond... 🙂

I've never tried messing with it, but if you have a shortcut to the .exe, go to properties, misc, and you'll see an "Idle Sensitivity" slider. I don't know how it works....maybe it's worth a shot?

Yes, you can adjust the "idle sensitivity". Nudge it to the right to let other processes have a chance to get more CPU time. You'll have to play with the setting a bit and depending on how much keyboard and mouse activity there is in the game you might not be able to free up a lot of CPU time.

Where I work we use an ancient DOS based database program. With the idle sensitivity set to default, the program eats up all idle CPU time even if D.net is running. One nudge to the right takes care of it plus the program still runs normally. 🙂
