I can't believe that anybody uses anything from Norton. It is crap that bogs your system down.

Then what do you use? My system runs plenty fast.

My subscription to the antivirus component to SystemWorks 2003 expired a couple of days ago. I couldn't renew it anyway because they tell me I need to buy a whole new SystemWorks 'cause my current was was too old. Riiiight. I just uninstalled the dam* thing and now use Antivir. BTW, the only thing in SystemWorks that was active was the virus protection and I've now discovered what a resource hog it is.....my rig runs a whole lot faster now. I'm just using XP's firewall and running tests on it seem to indicate its doing a good job. Just bought Diskeeper (home) and DL'd CCcleaner so now I've replaced SystemWorks for $20. I'll never install that crapola again.

I could write a book about this subject. I have a neighbor who is an involuntary slave to Norton because he does not have
the neccessary computer savvy to get rid of it and he has pre-loaded Windows and thinks that his computer will never
work again if he tries to interfere with what ever Norton says and that he must re-new his subscription whenever Norton
says to.

Do not buy pre-loaded computers . Buy your own copy of Windows so that you can format and reload any time you need.
Have your conputer built by someone you trust or better still build it yourself. You should be able to get all the advice you
need.

Do not load Norton. There are lots of other programs. Avast. Trend Micro, Etc.

Do not buy a Dell except maybe their monitors which I understand are quite good(made by somebody else of course).

well I don't mind buying something as long as it's good.

Norton Internet Security came free with my motherboard.

I think you'll see on the pop-up that you can select it to remind you in either one of fifteen days...
