Anyway to get better performance from VNC?

My VPN users still occasioanlly need to have remote control functionality and I'm trying to get them to use VNC, but they're almost all annoyed by 1) the dot 2) the poor refresh rate that sometimes results in an old desktop image remaining on top of the new image except right under the curser. I check the VNC website and found there hasn't been a new version for almost two years and I couldn't find any add-on websites for VNC.

I use: www.RAdmin.com

It fits on a disk and has none of the problems you speak of. It's also got "watch only", file transfer, command prompt, and remote admin modes. It's the best remote program I have used. PM me if you want to know more.

TightVNC is definitely better. Thanks.

I work for a small company and getting funding for anything is tough. I mean anything. Hell, we're still on NT 4.0.

TightVNC is running very slowly on my modest Pentium II server.

Connecting to a VNC server with the TightVNC viewer gives me the best results.

I don't mind still being on NT 4.0. You want to know why?

Because someday years from now, scientists are going to discover a giant asteroid headed straight for earth. After some discussion one of the members of the NASA elite will stand up and declare, "Get me the best damn NT administrator in the world." "That can only be one person" somebody else will say. Then they'll call upon me and a rag-tag group of my friends to fly modified space shuttles to the asteroid where we'll drive modified Jeeps to the middle of the asteroid where we'll drill 800 feet into its core, plant explosives and escape before the charges go off. We'll return to earth as heroes. Amidst all the celebration someone will ask why they needed an NT administrator for the job and everybody will shrug their shoulders and go, "I don't know; I think we just did or something."
