anyway to get 3d acceleration on 2 screens at one time?

at work I can no problem keep two windowed games open on both screens pretty well. (geforce 4 card) but when I try to do the same on my home system which is radeon 9700 the machiene slows to a crawl if any 3d is on the secondary monitor. I can run two game on one monitor no problem and even have both visable at the same time. Are thier any tricks to get this to work?
