it starts at a higher multi (28) then drops down to 26. my mobo doesn't support intels xtu. is there an equiv to clockgen or some such?

I'm assuming your referring to turbo boost under a 4 core load? It's designed so they CPU can run at 55 watts for a short time before dropping down to the stock 45 to stay within thermal limits. To my knowledge, with mobile Sandy Bridge, there's nothing you can do to change these settings or multipliers.

my mobo doesn't have the bios options :(

with everything at stock it used to hit 80c after a while (cpu via coretemp) and i now have a cooler for the laptop. it hits high 60s now and the multi stays at 28 for longer but still drops to 26 eventually.

it's weird. i mean if it's ok to run at 80c anyway, then why not let me push a faster multi when it's only 70c

ta anyways guys :)
