Anyway to download individual divx codes along with instruc. on where to place them (no installer)

Looking to download individual codec files along with a description on where to place them /system32/.... etc etc. I cannot use an installer that leaves a key in the registry ala Divx 5.0.4. Help is greatly appreciated.
