Anyway to disable the Multimedia Preview in Windows 2000?

There is a known issue with the Hercules Gaming Theature XP and Windows 2000 where sometimes the preview box in explorer will generate an explorer.exe error.

Hercules is supposedly working on the problem, except they say it it going to be about 2 months until a fix is out. Is there anyway to disable the preview box in explorer for a multimedia file? This would be a temporary fix to the problem.
