i have a crappy onboard sound card which doesnt have any amplification at all, i think thats how you spell it😀, is there any software which i can boost my volume without have to biy those amplified speakers, ive maxed out the volume tweakers in the volume control thing for win2k.

basically what im saying is that is there any software to boost the volume.

soundcards shouldn't have amps.. end up being lousy. just get a boostaroo(tm) or something, dedicated headphone amps just for your purpose.

PCI soundcards do not have amplifiers, like the old ISA soundcards do. This is to preserve sound quality. You MUST have powered speakers if you want big volume. Headphones are not powered (generally), so you won't get loud volume through them.

Buy an SBLive Value ($90) or an SBLive 5.1 DE ($110) from MSY. Both are retail boxes. You can't get cheaper than them.
