Anyway to change controller number on 360

For example I'll be playing forza with the controller and want to play forza with the wheel. Or playing another game or geometry wars and want to switch to the wheel or vice versa.

I've just been shutting down the 360 with the device I'm playing with and then starting it with the other.

Hold down the big X button until it asks you what you want to do...pick "Shutdown controller"...then turn on the other one.

I've found the same thing when booting up Rock Band with the controller and then plugging in the drums or guitar later and turning off the controller. The drums stay as controller 2. It still works fine though.
Even when shutting off the controller and turning on the other one after, the second one still doesn't take the first port all the time. Its wierd.

Not sure if forcing a re-synch would work?

i was trying to do this yesterday. i wanted to switch to the wired controller since i was out of batteries for the wireless. couldn't figure out how to do it. turned off the one controller, and plugged in the 2nd, but the 2nd would default to 2nd player no matter what i tried.

I'm pretty sure re-syncing will work but you have to get up and go to the console press the button there and on the controller.

Just Pull the batteries out (if you've got a wireless one). Turn on the next one you want in that spot...
