Anyway I can add my 120mm fans without a lot of sound.

I just bought two awesome Sunon 120mm fans with 108cfm movement. I want to mount them to my case side without adding a ton of noise cuz my system is noisy enough. My thermaltake volcano 6cu+ with the 7200rpm fan is enough to keep you awake. On top of that I got a 7200rpm hard drive. Any way to install these things without adding a lot more sound? Im worried because I read somewhere that they are 42dba each, and mounted to my case side door that would be LOUD!🙁

I have the same fans:

Apart from the rest of my cooling setup (2 x 80mm):

One 120mm at the side (PCI) blowing in
One 120mm blowhole at the top (exhausting)

Let me assure you, these fans are extremely noisy even over the rest of my cooling setup!

If you have them, then test them out. With your PC off, take your case off and connect a fan up. Start the PC and see how noisy the fan is... 🙁

To answer your question - you could do a 7volt modification, or use a fanbus.

Don't even go through the trouble of puting a rheobus in, just hook up a potentiometer in line with your hot wire and adjust the speed from there 'till you can stand it. From my experiences, I couldn't even hear a 120mm fan over one of those screaming deltas.

if you can start your fans at 5VDC, you can do without the mod...

why did you get loud fans if you did not want the noise?

42dba is a lot of noise from a few feet away...
