anything wrong with this lappy?

It's actually a good price. Considering that it is a economic level pentium-m machine (you dont see many of those around), the system is good. The only problem I see is that it only allows 7x8 (i forgot the number) MB RAM as a maximum.

Edit: ...Nevermind. I compared it with the HP Zt3000 (similar functions + price) and it dwarfs or matches the ZNOTE in nearly every area. I think you should wait for something better or cheaper.

thanx for the response. to get the HP in the same price range as this without rebates (i dont want to deal with an rebates) you have to select a regular cd-rom drive as where the asus gives you dvd/cdrw. the ram isnt a big deal since another 256 wont cost all that much and the processor is plenty fast. also the asus give 7.4 HOURS with battery saver mode enable but the biggest thing that makes me lean towards the asus is it weighs 4.8 pounds vs 6.5 for the HP which is a huge plus since i have to drag it to class

also, the asus comes with a built in card reader which is a definate plus

It lists one sodimm slot with what looks like a maximum 512MB module. I'm assuming the extra 256 comes from onboard memory soldered onto the motherboard or very difficult to get to (i'm betting soldered).
Otherwise I think it looks decent for the specs provided. I'd be looking at it more if it had 802.11g support and a bigger screen.

I would bet that there is a second so-dimm slot under the keyboard. I have seen other laptops being advertised as only having one slot for expansion.

anyway to confirm this? i would be all over this if it were true...

Seems like the 256Mb is standard for the laptop. Not sure if it's soldered but I'm pretty sure there's an extra slot free for it.

1Gb SOdimms are way overpriced.
