Anything wrong with the MGE Magnum 500W PSU?

So from that link, it would seem that MGE is not recommended. I've seen MGE on CompUSA's selves and they price it really high. Never heard of them though, might as well go for Antec PSU.

Go with a known brand...Seasonic, OCZ, PCP&C, Fortron.

Agreed, can't skimp on a quality PSU. The Corsair models are also good, I think Enhance and Silverstone are also pretty good.

What are the specs on the MGE even?

Thank you.

It's to be considered a decent PSU. You indicate it is already in-hand, if so use it w/o worry. It does not belong on the list linked above.
The build is by Seventeam, a respected OEM. It is populated with good to excellent capacitors and it runs quiet.
If I had this unit and it was out of warrenty, it would be opened up, the copper sink tops removed and more TIM would be applied. I remember seeing pics in reviews of very little thermal paste being used on the assembled heat piped sinks.
However, it will not ventilate the case because it uses a very low flow fan...Point? Make sure the case has a decent intake fan.

This unit was pulled from production because it was too expensive to manufacture...NOT because it was a bad PSU.
