85 nissan extended cab pickup truck 4x4 5sp runs and looks good has extra trans and topper $1500

--------------
I haven't called about it yet so I don't know how many miles are on it or what other options it has but thats sounds like a pretty good price aslong as it isn't a peice of junk. That extra trans bit worrys me a little though. It doesn't say what size engine it has but I believe the only one available was the 2.4l 4cly which from what I have heard is suppost to be pretty reliable and peppy. I just want a little work truck and don't want to spend a lot of money so this fits. Any thoughts on it people.

Oh and does anybody know if this is an interferance engine and how often the timing belt is suppost to be changes?

Rust doesn't really bother me much aslong as it isn't major or on the frame or some other really important part. It will affect my offer though :).

Nice price....as long as it has been relatively well cared for it should last 250,000 miles. On those trucks, alignment is key, or they chew up front tires like gum. Other than that check for tight steering, smooth clutch action, and nice idle. Lock in the hubs and drive it, listen for bad sounds. My dad got 300,000 from his '86 then my sister totaled it :Q

1500 for an 85.. GOD!

if its in excellent condidition then maybe its worth. But frankly I wouldnt go anything more a few years old. Let alone a 15 year old car.
If I "HAD" to buy that car I wouldnt pay more than 700 for it.

My friend bought a nice 83 BMW for 750, it runs but that is about it. Its good for the usual drive, but he woudlnt dare do long distance with that. The car doesnt leak but its just its age that is scaring him.

Dont be to hard on the value of 4WD Extended cab pickups. My Dad's that was a huge POS ( banged to hell, not a straight body panel on it) and 300,000 miles, that got totaled by my sister, the insurance co. gave him $5500 just for the truck, that was 2 years ago.

I consider an 85 model a newer car. Out of the 4 cars I have owned the newest was an 85 and the two I currently own are an 81 and an 67 so the age doesn't bother me. I dought unless you get real lucky you could find a decent 4wd for $750 of any year. I looked earlier on kbb and the trade in value was $1400 if it has air and powersteering I guesed and the retail was around $3000 I also guessed on the millage and put in 150k.

btw I am not one of those crazy people that likes to spend lots of money on a car. I am one of those kinda people that would rather spend $500-$1500 on a car and keep it a couple years and then buy another one without ever having a car payment so no couple year old cars for me. Well not totally true I do spend lots of money on my 67 galaxie but thats different :p.
