my dad's looking for a car, and I found a certified 2008 RL, with the navi, for a pretty awesome price.

being certified puts some fears to rest, but is there anything specific to look out for on these cars?

Thanks,
Vivan

That's the perfect old-man car. The TC on it is spectacular. Afaik they're solid as a rock, just a bit more uncommon than the lexus/infiniti offerings for that vehicle type, so parts may be slightly more difficult to find, but no biggie.

It's a 5 spd... Is that terrible? Thing is, it is only going to be driven maybe 3k miles a year.

The auto transmission in this gen of RL was always a different and superior design to the autos that had trouble in lesser Hondas and Acuras.

The RL is an under-appreciated gem. The SH-AWD is functional and rewards enthusiastic driving, the interior is fantastic, it's solid and reliable, and it disappears into traffic, so that pussy in the Boxster will spill his coffee when you blow his doors off on the cloverleaf freeway on-ramp.
