So my dad refuses to take the leap to dvd-r/cdr for some reason.. He keeps on using those stupid zip disks but now wants something with more storage - is there anything like the old jazz drive still out there? 1 to 2 gb per disk would be ideal as would a usb 2.0 connection.. Anyone?

Thanks!

As far as I know only the 750MB Iomega drive would fit that bill. However, I haven't done any research on it or kept up with that field because nobody purchases those things anymore. It's all DVD or CD burners now as you know.

Here is a link to that 750MB zip. It's the sixth item down.

You know, i've only been able to fit jazz drives in scsi... I'll dig around a bit more... I even bought him a dvd-ram/dvd-r drive and he said that it's too much of a hassle.. bastard!

You said USB 2.0.

It's simple. Get an external USB hard drive.

There you go. Problem solved.

Not really... He's getting the disks for archival purposes (in case of HD failure).. an external hd is a nice idea but he'd be afraid of that crashing... He even has a safe for his zip disks - he's pretty serious about his data..

Maybe some kind of MO drive (do they still make those?)
Or one of those new Sony blue-laser DVDs.
