Anything like the Antec open case that's coming out that's already out?

The HSPC Tech Station has been out for over a year, that blog notice was over 2 years old. You can get the HSPC from lots of resellers. Here they are at SVC: http://www.svc.com/techstation-case.html . There is nothing else swoopy like the Antec Skeleton out there that I know of. But ads for the Antec are in the trade mags (like PC World) and there is/was a place-holder for it at the Egg (I guess it has fallen behind schedule as the place-holder is gone).

And there is a really expensive Italian-made one (very similar to the HSPC) that aigo has been drooling over for a good while apparently because it has some WCing support. I think he finally found a place to buy one, so maybe a lot of the hoopla from that quarter will die down. He doesn't care much for the Antec Skeleton because it's air cooling only.

Remember, an open case like that doesn't fulfill two of the necessary functions of a computer case for home use: keeping the RFI/EMI from your system in, and that from others out... If the FCC van pulls into your driveway, don't blame me. You've been warned...

There is a thread on the Skeleton with more comments on that general style of case and a link to the object of aigo's desire...

Wait ,, what about the FCC?

You are responsible for keeping your RFI/EMI out of your neighbor's equipment. If they get complaints, they'll come out with their detection van to try to locate the source. Probably get away with a warning the first time, after that, fines. I guess it has to be pretty bad as I run with my door off quite a bit, and the house to the south isn't too far away, but a lot farther than in many cities. Then if you are in an apartment or dorm with rooms cheek-by-jowl, it can't get much closer.

What I don't like about the HSPC rack is not the acrylic itself (though that is hard to keep clean in a leaky old house like this). It's because it doesn't come with a grounding bus (but that's not hard to add - it's just that it should be there). With a bus added, it is suitable for its purpose: testing or burning in components and systems, or in a shop for a test horse, though an uncovered desktop chassis if just fine for that and costs less. I just wouldn't use them for daily use in residential areas.

IFX is gone?

Also, maybe your new comp can be called Aegis.

Yeah, its gone...

Sorry, but that watersetup kills the IFX-14. And the weather in LA has been VERY off for this time of year. :

Also there is no otherway to put an aftermarket sink on the NB off a 780i. I tried and planned, and its impossible without a waterblock.

Didn't Zalman make one recently too? I remember reading about it.. If it wasn't Zalman, it was one other company.

How RFI/EMI does a computer with an open case emit? And what stuff would it affect in a neighbour's house?

to be honest, im not seeing anything you guys talk about in regards to distrubances.

My TV comes out fine, my cell phone works fine. And my system in the rack crunchs non stop.

Its my little toy setup. Things are really easy to swap and debug on that guy cuz its entirely open.

I would of loved to keep it on air, however, the weather in LA reciently has been "water cooling weather". 😛
