Anything interesting between Idaho Falls and Salt Lake City

Going to Yellowstone and leaving from Salt Lake City, anything interesting to do/see in between?

Although, if you're into trout fishing...there is some damned good fishing along the way.

I usually stop/stay the night in Lava Hot Springs and take a dip in the hot springs.

Go buy copies of Roadside Geology of Utah and Roadside Geology of Idaho. There is some interesting geology along that route. And when you get there you might want a copy of Roadside Geology of Yellowstone Country. The books are written for a general audience.

I hadn't considered anything that's off the I-15 route. Lava is only a few miles off the highway though...and unless he has a need to go to/through Idaho Falls, he could take some of the smaller roads into Jackson.

Another nice side-trip is Craters of the Moon National Monument. A bit out of the way, but interesting as hell...if you're into the volcanic history of the region.
