I'm getting an iPod for my PC and need to buy a firewire PCI card.

Anything I need to know about it? Certain standards I need, or are they all the same and I can just get the cheapest one?

Any recommendations on where to buy one?

Oxford 911 chipset is one of the better ones.

But almost any of them should work. Compgeeks sells them for like $13 and work fine; it's what i have in my PC.

Make sure it'll supply power to charge the Ipaq (I believe they have a 6-pin connector). One of my clients bought a ghetto card and it doesn't charge his Ipod, so he has to charge it, then unplug the charger and connect it to his computer to transfer music. PITA

I do that. Even though my firewire card can charge up the ipod. It doesn't wear out the hard drive that way (paranoia).

I just made a thread about this, Basicly you just need a 6 pin firewire card, the 6 pin version carries power as well as data, while the 4 pin only carries data. People reccomended the Texas Instruments chipsets, i got one off ebay for 12.xx shipped, and it arrived within 2 days of payment, but i have yet to install it....still waiting for my ipod!
