Im sick of comcast throttling my internet whenever I DL something via bittorrent. Right now Im DLing a music CD put out by the DJ himself. Not only is my internet at a crawl, but im DLing at 50kbps when there are over 1000 seeders. It should definitely be going faster than that. If this isnt throttling, I dont know what is

meh, start the download and do something else. That's how we do it on satellite.

Don't bash on DSL...I have 6mbit package and getting like 500-600 kb/s down off a good server.

Yeah, switch to utorrent and enable encryption....best you can do for right now...I'd imagine running peer guardian 2 would be a good idea as well for the obvious reasons

DSL sucks balls! Great, you get 6megs. You know the reason you get 6megs? Because you're place is probably on the lawn of the CO. The other people further away are getting slower and slower speeds. I'm down to 1.2megs. :| DSL sucks balls! The great things about cable and fiber is if they can lay a line to your home, you'll most likely (>90% of the time) get the highest speed available. Unfortunately some sh!tty companies like Comcast do sh!t like this. And others like Charter cable are looking to spy on your surfing habits. :|

Whoa there, someone is a little bitter. I have Verizon DSL at home and it's great. I'm in a somewhat rural area and nowhere near the CO and I get really good speeds.

Before I moved into my apartment, I lived in a rural area on the fringe of the range of a CO. No cable service, no city water, no sewer. We didn't even have the option of broadband until 2004. We were able to get DSL at a whopping 768kpbs. In 2005 this was upgraded to "3mb." I put quotes around it because the most we ever saw was 1.25mb. On average, the connection dropped about 10 times PER DAY. I hated our connection. Trying to play online games sucked huge cock.

I now live right off campus at a big university. I have the same internet service, but I get 6mb and I've only noticed it drop once. If I go onto campus and plug into ethernet, I can pull 70mb.

So yes, DSL sucks.

I get 1.5 mbps on DSL, which is exactly what's advertised. I would go Comcast but I pay about $20 more a month for lower upload speeds and I'm happy with my down speeds. Plus when Comcast screws up everyone (90% have Comcast) in my neighborhood goes crazy. >_<'

This is weird... we have Cox and pay for the 5mb service. I was DLing a 4.5GB file via utorreny and my DL speed was between 1.5-2.1MB/sec the whole time. It was done in 50minutes! Thats around 14mb/s average, nearly 3x what we pay for! I dunno wtf was going on, but i was pretty stoked!

I had Verizon DSL back in 2002 and the connection dropped so much I switched to cable and have never looked back.
