Anything free and better than Adaware?

I don't know how I got this but something keeps setting my homepage to about:blank and it's some search engine. Then a pop-up comes up that tells me I got a popup program and I should visit a link to get a pop-up scanner crap. I scanned several times using the latest reference file of Adaware and I even got Proximitron running. I don't know how to get rid of this crap. Everytime I reset my homepage and close IE, it'll come back again after I start IE.

Anything more powerful than Adaware I can use? Or anyone know specifically how to get rid of this crap? seems like it attached itself to my comp and placed a file somewhere..

I used something called HiJack this, it work when my IE homepage kept changing back to some search engine.

adaware is doing it for some reason. if you set it to scan on windows bootup it will set your homepage back to MSN. if you do a manual scan, you can make uncheck the the registry entry, and it will leave it alone

maybe email them and tell them to take it out

It is a CoolWebSearch variant so again the latest CWshredder if updated Adaware doesn't work.

spybot didn't work but cwshredder seems to have helped. stupid spyware. thanks guys.
