BOTH corners of my mouth have been cracked and are very slow to heal because the cracks reopen whenever my mouth opens. I've been using a lot of chapstick, and it helps, but is there anything else I can do?

Actually, carmex and other chapstick type products have been proven to help temporarilly but in the long term PREVENT full healing. You body stops producing the chemicals needed in sufficient amounts to heal itself. Thus, you can get semi-addicted to it: using the product causes the problem to get worse, and you use more product, so you have a bigger problem, so you use more, etc.

The best solution is to stop using products and wait out the problem for a week.

I always heard if you kiss a horse on the butt, you will quit licking your lips.

Get some hot rice and burn it. I've done it before or at least my parents made me when I was younger. Seemed to work. Trust me :p

I would not be able to open my mouth without much pain if I didn't use something
