Anything better Thermaltake?

I am planning to get a thermalright sk-6 for my new Tbird 1.4, but the fan is what i am most interested about. Is there a 60mm fan with higher cfm (31) than the thermaltake 60mm, but no louder than 30dBa?

I am also going to be using some case fans, but I can't find anything with a higher cfm (37cfm) than the thermaltake 80mm, again no more than 30dBa.

I already checked sunon, however, panaflo is pretty close, but still too loud (39cfm/32dBa).

If you find any better fans, can you also tell me where to find it for a good price?

www.hardcorecooling.com is where i can buy both the sk-6 and thermaltake 60mm along with the 80mm's for real great prices...

Thanx.

I was looking into getting the same setup as you and the thermaltake fans have great specs but I have heard that their performance isn't as good as thermaltake claims. I was actually at a online retailer's site(forget which one, plycon?) actually had a notice about this when i clicked on the information for the thermaltake fans. If you do get them, let me know how they turn out.

edit- heres the site

I use a sk6 with a 60-80 mm adapter and a 80 mm zalman fan (28 cmf, 20 db)for my 1.2 ghz@1.47. This combo is rather quiet, but still performs nicely. You could always use a stronger 80 mm fan if you want better cooling. Only problem is I had to use screws to fasten the adapter which damages the fins.

I would be very interested in the results also.

Also where did you find the Thermaltake fans? Vendor site?

I'm going to switch from Volcano II to Thermalright SK6 w/ delta 38cfm. I know I'm not going to be happy with the noise. I have a Sunon 27cfm that I may test on the SK6, and possibly the Thermaltake off the Volcano II. I have also heard that the Thermaltake fan is really not 31cfm.

Thanks.

Prospector,

I've got a sk6 w/ delta fan on order and, like you, I don't know how I'm going to like the delta. I also have a volcano II, and was considering trying out that fan on the sk6. Have you heard of anyone doing this? If so, how were the results?

There is no 60mm fan that will put out more CFM's without generating more noise than the Thermaltake. I was *extremely* doubtful that the Thermaltake would live up to its claims but the only way to know for sure is to try right?:)

I don't know if the 31cfm/28dba is entirely accurate, but I do know this: I get the *exact same* temps with this fan as I did with my 30cfm/38dba YS Tech (43C idle, 48C load). Needless to say the Thermaltake is much quieter. I have this fan on 2 computers at home (both non oc'ed 1.4 Athlons) and the results are the same. Another user here, DFranch, actually got a drop in temps comparing these 2 same fans. I don't know if this matters, but I got my Thermaltakes at sidewinderpc.com. I've heard there is an old and new version of this fan (they sell the new one) so maybe the new ones actually meet the specs. If you're looking for a good, quiet fan the Thermaltake seems to be the way to go IMHO. Good luck!

My next experiment is a 60-80mm Fan Adapter with Sunon or Panaflo 39cfm/32dba fan.

BTW, I tried out a 40cfm/49dba YS Tech. This sucker cooled like nothing else (42C load!) but the noise...lord have mercy the noise...I actually got kinda used to it while it was on but when I turned it off it sounded like all the animals in the forest got quiet because they sensed impending doom...kinda unnerving :p

I just ordered my sk6 w/ adapter and a 80mm sunon fan from 1COOLPC for $49 plus shipping. Seem like the best deal around. Hope this helps!

For you ppl that beleive or bought a thermaltake fan because it actully performs as claimed by thermaltake...I've got some .COM stocks for sale for you too... suckers :D

As many of you guys might know i've got hundreds of fans on hand including many version of the 60mm fan by thermaltake and its far hyped specs, i can almost close my eyes and name off what kidna fna it is by listening too its pitch. And i can give you many reasons why not to go by the few reviews you've seen. Between a 26cfm to a 32cfm fan your temps will not differentiate that much too really give it a call, also considering different blade types, and if you reseated your processor, and if your using a socket themistor to make comparisons, your fooling yourself. Alota ppl have proven just putting there hand infront of it have proven it less, its crude and all your doing is mesauring presure, but i've also taken this further to the CFM bag test, and i've plotted it about ~25cfm and I even recorded its sound brought it through a spectrum analyzer and found its overall loudness to be higher then a fan 32db, though the 32db YS tech was higher pitched but lower overall db (YS tech fans by design have a slight whine).
Point out small company evercool does not have the technology/money/research to make a fan better then your major players (Delta, Sanyo Denki, Papst, Panaflo, AddA) in fact theres nothing special about these fans at all, i've found them actully on the cheap side cause they make more noise if you set the fan so the weight of the blades sits on the spindal, which most generic fans tend to do.

Regarding the Thermaltakes. NOT based on any review but based on *personal experience*, I believe that the cfm rating is accurate (unless YS Tech fibbed on their cfm rating also). I'm not sure on the dba level however. I don't have a dba meter so I don't know if it's really 28dba. All I know is that it's significantly quieter than my YS Tech. Who knows, my Antec case is very cool so maybe that's why I don't see a difference in temps between the two fans. If the Thermaltake is 21cfm instead of 31cfm like some people believe, wouldn't this cause my temps to rise?

Even with your personal experance what i said still follows.

The older one did 21cfm but then thats when they claimed it as 36cfm, but now they claim it at 31cfm but now about 26-24cfm, either way there both wrong, what about there Dragon Orb 38cfm 37db do you see that possible, when it sounds as loud as it is, louder then the Delta 38 (46.5db)? Of course there specs are off.

The YS tech fans specs are correct, theres alot of ppl that will tell you the YS tech fan is definatly quieter then the Thermaltake. Reason why... is cause of YS tech whine that exist in there high output fans, because its high pitched its more sensative to our ears and you think its louder, but on a db scale it will be quieter. So from a distance say a meter you'll actully hear a difference, the thermaltake overall loudness you'll hear over the YS tech as you get further away.
