Anything better then Antec 1200 at 150 Dollar price point?

Hey Zeus

Banned
I want a sweet full tower but i don't want to spend an arm and a leg. I'm ordering the 1200 this weekend BUT is there anything better at the 150 dollar price point that maybe i should take a look at or is the 1200 the best "Bang for my buck?"

Heya,

Depends on what you mean by "better."

I prefer the HAF 932 over the Antec 1200. They're in the same price range. There's also some Azza towers that are amazing that are cheaper. And the Cosmos, but it's more, it's $180 basically.

Do you really need a `full' tower? There's a lot of excellent mid-towers that are actually the size of a full tower (height) that are in the $100 range. The HAF922 comes to mind. NXZT EVO too.

Very best,

I'd probably go with a Stacker 830 and save a few bucks (it's got free shipping at the 'egg). I have a camcorder, so it's more convenient to have FireWire top & front than e-SATA...and I don't have any external e-SATA devices...so the Stacker would just fit my lifestyle better.

The CM 90cfm/17db fans ? I saw those, and immediately thought the stats were completely fabricated. I haven't done any personal testing, but I have read some reviews where they show it's completely false...Even the top-of-the-line Scythes (GT, etc) can't push that much air while maintaining such a low db rating. My Panaflo is rated over 110 cfm, but that thing sounds like a lawnmower trying to suck the life out of my machine...BUT, as I have no personal experience with them, perhaps somebody can correct me.

Mister,

I believe they're "Rated" at 90cfm @ 2000rpm but you need a fan controller to take full advantage of them.

They may push 90 cfm. I'm not doubting that. I'm doubting they can push 90 cfm, while still maintaining 17 db, unless you are looking at another fan. And I'm not sure, but I don't think fan controllers would allow a fan to push past the limit on its motor, e.g. max RPM, cause they're designed to run, at most, at that RPM. (I've seen people damage case fans when dusting it out and not holding the fan still). I've plugged the 3 pin from my Panaflo into my motherboard, and it shows it at max RPM. This might not go for the higher end fan controllers or any for that matter, but mine only allows me to set it at max or lower. Then again, I have a Sunbeam Rheobus, so I could just be a raving lunatic who has no idea what he is talking about =x.

EDIT: The specs could mean that they push 90 CFM max, and run at 19db (corrected 😛) on low...but that would be an extremely cheap way of advertising their fans =/, not quite noble of CM. But I just googled some reviews with many, many people calling the CM bluff on those fans. Cheers.

Never too late to cancel that order ! If you want good performance fans, should check out the Scythe lines or the Yate Loons. I'm sure there is a lot of knowledge swirling about these forums for the right fan for you. If anything, read Vapor's reviews on fans.

Old review, but I'm sure it still has relevant information. He doesn't review the Scythe GT's, which I've heard to be an excellent fan. Don't limit yourself to what he has to offer though !
