Anything better than this SMC 8-port gigabit switch?

If you plan to use jumbo frames, please note that the currently shipping SMC 5/8 port switches are different than the older revs of the 8505T/8508T and now drop jumbo frames under load. So they're NOT capable of line rate with jumbo frames, apparently not even close.

I think D-Link and Netgear's offerrings MIGHT be better about this - but testing is required to verify. The good rep of the earlier 8505T/8508T revs caused them to be used in a lot of places where people would actually use jumbo frames and care about performance, places that would not normally use such low-end switches.

I have an 8508T and like it a lot. The SMC you linked to is basically a cheaper version of it.

I definitely plan on using jumbo frames. I also saw the 8508T on newegg for $100 and it appears some of the latest user reviews point toward what you were referring to with the latest revisions. I care about performance so that's why I posted this thread. Perhaps I'll try this netgear out:

I also found this 3COM although I haven't heard much about it:

If anyone has any other specific suggestions on what they would go with please let me know.
