DL won't be dead... think how much BluRay or HDDVD media will cost... and how long it will take that to die down. While that's happening, DL should fall.. at least.. i sure as hell hope so. I need some high quality DL media for backup.. well, don't need, but would like.

Well I don't feel as bad for buying a 4x DVD+R drive for $300 when they first came out. Both +R and -R are still around and cheap now do I don't need a +- drive and dual layer is still to expensive to use. I've gotten my moneys worth I guess.

kind if ironic that you can buy dual layer burners for next to nothing, but couple of blank discs will cost you almost as much.

Heh I got that beat. Friend bought a 2x external CD burner back when burners were first coming out. $999.99 before taxes. I waited a little bit and bought a 4x CD burner for $450 and thought it was a steal. ;)

yeah, sucks that dual-layer media is so expensive...one of my friends is an even bigger DVD guy than me and I made images of a few rare Criterion Collection releases and I'd rather watch on my system (no TV out on the comp).

ah well.

i remember buying a 2x burner for $300 10 years ago. i was the only kid in the entire highschool with a cd burner and that made me instantly popular. more so than the guy who charged $5 for burning a CD. still...it didnt get me any girls...

i dont burn DL movies, i just rip them to harddrive and keep them there.
