My SOYO dragon plus's LAN seems to have gone bye bye.

I think I read others had this problem....
If you also have had a problem with the onboard LAN quit working... let me know if it meant sending the board back.

Also.. my new board (bought December), has ALWAYS smelled like it was sitting in a puddle of water... while running (nice FRY smell), and I was hoping it would subside with use (burn in), but no such luck.

I think I got a crap board.

Anyway.. anyone else have this happen I would like to hear about it. Thanks.

my dragon+ LAN is still working fine (hopefully it will stay that way 🙂 )

but then mine also never had that "burning" smell you are refering to... i would RMA your board

YES! Here is what happened:

1. Running on a old 3COM 10 Mbps hub, everything was fine.
2. Upgrades to a DLink 10/100 Switch, hard set all systems on the LAN to 100/FULL. All systems are fine.
3. About 2 weeks later, the Soyo Dragon+ Machine stops hitting the network. LAN Card in the control panel says 'disconnected'. I change cables, network, everything. No go.
4. I hard coded the NIC to 10/FULL on the Dragon+, everything appears to be fine. For some reason, the 100/FULL is broken. This occured about 10 days ago.

I have not fully investigated WHY. ANy ideas?

Well,

Returned the board. They sent me back a brand new board. It worked for about a week, and the brand new board they sent is not working now. I am pretty sure its the LAN, as my other computers work just fine. It appears to not be receiving but does not send out. turned off all firewall's, tried reinstalling the drivers, just bout everything I could think of. I can get it to connect.... but it does not want to receive data.

Anyone have this problem? I am thinking of just using another NIC in the thing. But it kinda pisses me off. It smells again like the other board now too (like burning electronics) just started about a week after I have had it installed. Does not appear to be grounding anywhere.

I also am wondering if my PS is over volting something on the motherboard.

Anyone?
