Anyone's Liteon DVD burner ever start acting like a huge bastard???

Mine is, last night I watched a DVD on it, used a CD in it, and burned 2 DVD's. Today it won't recognize any blank dvd's it just keeps spinning up and then down. It's reading dvd's ok from what I see so far. I tried restarting my PC but no help. Are there any tips to get it to stop being a PITA?? I'm using Memorex DVD+R's
 
how many blank dvds did you try?

other than putting a big scratch in the first cd i ever put in it my lite on dvd burner has been fine.
 
Many people love the litons, I have had two, and they are the only drives I have ever had problems with. My first liteon dvd rom died after a few years of lite use (no pun intended, but maybe thats why the call it lieon).
My second dvd rom drive does not read dvd+ formats, although it should-very poor.
So what is the big deal with lite on, there cheap, and perform ok.
Anyone prefer a different brand of dvd rom?
 
I've tried like 3 different blank discs. My old plextor CD burner got to where it would work sometimes and not others. I want to know whats up with all CD/DVD drives, they just dont' seem to be made with the quality other components are.
 
My LiteOn doesn't read some (I guess poor quality) CDRs that my other burner has no problem with. But I've never had a problem like yours.
