Anyone work in the Washington D.C. or outside the metropolitan area (salary seems exorbitant)

So anyway I'm talking to some friends i know. One of them that just left a job recently got a job around D.C.. He's in baltimore, so it's quite a commute.. Anyway we are talking 94-96K a yr!!!! He was making 61K before. I'm in the graduate program, and a student I know went from Legg Mason to DC (Unisys corp) 90K a yr. He's only doing SQL reporting and crystal reports.

Me and him are about the same age (26). He was telling me Baltimore sucks with IT jobs and most of the jobs here have a ceiling.

I work about 20 minutes from DC. I'm not really sure how the rest of the job market is but I'm happy with my salary.

I wouldn't commute to DC from Baltimore for that.

Actually, there's basically no way I would commute to DC from Baltimore. Or the other way around either. If the salary was high enough, I'd just move.

come to think of it, it's a contract --> perm.

The person comming from legg mason said he never put in for a resume at a company ever. He goes to a head hunter or staffing agency they pull a couple weeks salary out from his check. He said when he contracted at legg they put him on perm..

WTF?
