Hey guys, I've got an interview at Guess? tomorrow and if anyone has any advice as to what they might ask (retail related) it would be great.

I've been told they may ask me to try and sell some clothing to them, in which case I should mention the fabric of the clothing and if it's preshrunk, if it's tailored of baggy.

Also if they ask what my favorite stores are, to mention ones where the employees should really know the products they are selling, like sports check etc.

Any other advice anyone can offer would be helpful, thanks!

Customer is #1 and you take care of them to keep them coming back again and again.

Aye, if your store's anything like the Guess? at Somerset, just dress like you were going to a club and be very "popular" acting. Are you even paid commission at a store like that? It should be more about what they "get" from you rather than what you say. Just convince them that you're interested in fashion, and hopefully you've shopped there yourself before.

Good luck.

Damn, my wife would have been the perfect person to ask as she has been in retail management for years. Unfortunately, she is in St. Louis right now.

Yea I don't own a single piece of clothing from them, but I'll dress nice so hopefully, I don't really care as I have another job, this is more for the interview experience and whatever happens happens

thanks though!

Don't act too excited about getting a retail job at the interview, they'll probably expect something is fishy if you do. Just act bored and apathetic and you should get the the job.

Just kidding of course ;)

dont interupt the interviewer... let them talk as much and as long as you want, think quickly and give a short, meaningfull answer.

same w/ customers... do not interupt them... let them rant on whatever it is they are looking for and THEN start to suggest things

Actually, one of the rules in HR is you should speak 80% of the time.

At least that's what we learned last week. The interviewer should not speak more than 20-25% during the interview...
