Anyone work for Verizon?

I'm looking at a position at a company that will soon be acquired by Verizon. I was wondering if anyone here works for them and what they think.

well depends. I used to work for a large competitor of Verizon. If you work customer service you are going to hate it real quick. If you are a field tech you will kinda like your job but will become one of the most hated people on the road. Any other position you might be ok like R&D.

I'd be nervous about getting a job with a company that is getting acquired.

update your resume. 100% of the time when companies get "acquired" the workforce gets slashed

Update your resume. What dept. do you work for? I don't work for Verizon, but I have a number of friends who do in Amsterdam, and deal with quite a bit of their staff every day in Cary.

The acquisition is final but the changes are unannounced. But before I even entertain the idea of surviving the inevitable layoffs and relocations I want to know if it's a job worth taking a chance for. It'd be in software development.
