There's a charge on my CC "VZWRLSS*ETM SFL1434901" that is fraudulent.

I called Verizon about it, but because there's no charges on my account with the associated with the same monetary value they can't tell me where it's from other then 'possibly' a physical store.

I'm just guessing the SFL is South Florida? No idea, but just wondering if any of you might know how to decode the transaction.

Thanks!

Call your CC company and report it as a fraudulent charge. Why would you need to decode the transaction? Your card is compromised and it's better to just let the CC company deal with it.

Exactly. Although you should actually do it in writing too. Calling is fine, but by law you have to write them. You have 60 days to do so. If you do write the letter then you don't need to pay a penny of that particular charge ever* unless the credit card company can prove that it isn't fraudulent and that you do in fact owe it. That is quite a good position for you to be in as is it hard for the credit card company to prove that you did actually make that charge.

I've never seen a credit card bill without the exact address and exactly what to write in the letter (as this is all determined by federal law).

* Be certain to pay at least the minimum credit card bill amount though.

I've only dealt with BOA, but they always just send you paperwork that you sign. I've always initiated by phone because you'll get a replacement card out ASAP.

They did everything for me (has happened several times) and it's very easy.

I'm just trying to figure out if I know who did it. Over the summer someone used another card of mine without authorization.

I called Verizon already and the CC company. It was a bit of cat and mouse with me having to prove the charge wasn't mine since neither of them could tell me where the charge originated from.

Over the years I have had several instances of CC fraud on my Capital One card. Never any questioning, received new card asap and all done with a quick conversation over the phone. All I needed to do was verify a few transactions. Quite pleased with the service
