Apparently they are hoping for 100+ people so it might be worth an hour or two drive, here is the email i got:

from tiger@midwestfrag.org

Hello,

I was wondering if you would be interested in attending the next Midwest Frag. It will be held in Bloomington Illinois on March 3rd 2001. The registration fee is $20. I'll go into more details on that in a bit.

Your name was taken from the LAN Database, a very valuable resource for LAN Party organizers and gamers. If you don't like this email, I'm very sorry.

During the party we will provide food, drink, tournaments, prizes, and lots of fun. We will be having 3 tournaments, Counterstrike 4vs4, Unreal Tournament 2vs2, and Quake 3 Arena 1vs1. Other than that, any and all games are welcome. We will have multiple servers running to accomidate any game you'd like to play.

The network will be made up of 10/100 switched ports. We may have to use a few hubs depending on the turnout, but other than that, everything will be switched ports. We are in the process of getting the entire network setup on SMC switches. We aren't sure if this will be done on time or not.

Prizes, we plan on giving away about $1500 worth of prizes. These include a bunch of Logitech accesories, Bawls Drinks, CaseETC gift certificates, Plycon Rounded cables(subject to change), and much more to come.

More details are on our webpage, which is at www.midwestfrag.org. I
encourage you to check it out. We will open the doors at 10AM Saturday morning March 3rd. We are hoping for a turnout of 100-120 people, and highly encourage pre payment. For those that prepay, you will get a free bottle of Bawls. For those that don't prepay, it will be first come/first serve. We will have more than enough room for 130 people.

Here are some driving times for those coming from out of town.
North Chicago - 3 hours
St Louis - 3 Hours

If you have any questions, please email me, or ICQ me at 1811925.

Nah, too far, sorry. It's 2 1/2-3 hrs from me, and an additional $20, well, not worth it. Sorry.

Damn, this thread got more attention then the thread I started about the previous MWF.

Website is Midwestfrag

We are hoping for a great turnout, we would LOVE to see some AT members there. DJohn(memory group buys) is the one that started the MWF and he will be there, and i'm sure a few others will to.

I really hope some of you guys will come join us.

If you guys need rides or anything, Let us know. We have people coming in from WI, MO and a few other places.

LOL

Well its actually amazing. People put themselves on that list, then when you email them about a LAN party, they bitch you out.

when is the lan party? Is this a one day event?

My parents live about 20 minutes west of Peoria. I could maybe arrange something to swing down there and see them for a day, and hit the lan party on another day. I could make it over there in about 4 hours.

Well I realize that 3 or 4 hours is quite a bit to travel but I also know that there have been people travel up to 11 hours to the previous parties. I am reasonably sure that everyone who comes will have a heck of a good time and want to come back to the next one. Part of the MWF idea is that it is in the midwest, all over in the midwest so just because you have to drive 4 hours to this one the next may be closer and the one after that may be further away. The party travels and that is unlike any other lan party group that I know of. I hope to have a group of ATers there and I know we will have a boatload of prizes to give away so you stand a good chance of making back your entry fee in a prize. Plus all the pizza, snacks and pop is furnished so you can save your money for the mushkin ram that I plan on having to sell at close to cost. While I am sure there will be guys that think 30 minutes is too far to drive I also am sure that there will be people that make a 4 hour drive and hate to leave when it is over because they had so much fun.

Also since it was asked and I missed it, the event is from 10AM Saturday to 10AM Sunday. It isn't an all weekend event because it usually seems everyone is fried after the first 24 hours but it does run a full 24.
